Vic Vadney

Victor Jonathan Vadney was born on March 26, 1950, to Imogene and John Vadney. He passed from this life on September 17, 2025. A funeral service honoring his life will be on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. in the Special Events Room of the Oldham Lane Church of Christ, 5049 Oldham Lane, under the direction of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.

He graduated from Morse High School in San Diego in 1968. He graduated from Abilene Christian University, Magna Cum Laude, in 1972. He also met the love of his life, Janet Black at ACU and they were married on May 20, 1972.

He continued his education at Baylor College of Medicine and graduated from there in 1975 and received his Certification in Family Practice in Oregon in 1978. When Victor received his Family Practice Certification, Nigerian Christian Hospital needed a physician. Vic had always wanted to be able to do mission work for the Lord, so he and Janet spent just over a year in the mission field at Nigerian Christian Hospital before returning to the states. They returned to Abilene in 1980 where he worked at what was named the Abilene State School (now the Abilene State Supported Living Center). He was well respected by medical personnel who worked with the patients there.

Victor and Janet became members of Oldham Lane Church of Christ soon after it was planted. Disappointed that the work in Nigeria did not work out, he made survey trips to Papua New Guinea, Tanzania, and other countries, but did not find opportunities in those places. In 1999, Vic and Janet went on a mission trip with Oldham Lane Church of Christ to Ghana. Vic became deacon over Missions at Oldham Lane and worked in missions in Ghana for 20 years. He was also deacon over World Bible School for many years.

He is predeceased by his parents Imogene and John and his youngest sister, Nadine Moore. He is survived by his wife Janet of Abilene, a son, Gabriel, also of Abilene, and many nieces and nephews.
