Scott Eugene Mitchell, 90, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away peacefully on February 12th, 2026 surrounded by his family.

Born in Lawrence, Kansas February 12, 1936, to Owen and Maude Mitchell. Scott graduated with his Bachelor’s ‘60 and Master’s in Biblical Studies ‘67 at Abilene Christian University.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary Mason; children, and their spouses: Debbie & Gary Oliver, Kathy & Larry Musick, Susan Mitchell (daughter-in-law), and Gary & Maria Mitchell. Grandchildren and spouses are: Ashley Musick, Geoff & Maggie Musick, Dorothy Mitchell, Elliott & Samara Mitchell, Michelle Oliver and David Mitchell. Great-grandchildren are: Quillian and Cassie Musick. Brothers, and their spouses are: Dennis & Anita Mitchell, Don & Gayle Mitchell and Harold & Dianne Mitchell, with many nephews and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Owen and Maude Mitchell; sisters, and their spouses: Ruth & Jack Keller, Edith & Clayton Frost, Doris & John Richardson; brothers, and their spouses: Earl Mitchell, Loy & Donna Mitchell, Reece & Jacquie Mitchell; son Keith Mitchell; nieces Linda Frost and Robin Richardson Watkins; nephews Bobby Frost, Stan Mitchell, William Mitchell, and Randy Mitchell; great-nephew David Mitchell.

Scott was known for his service in the Kingdom and enthusiasm for lost souls. He was an encourager with a powerful, positive influence on those around him. He had a sense of humor and loved to include children. He loved to play Monopoly with his grandkids, and his competitive nature always made for a memorable game. Scott and Mary preached/taught in several different towns and cities: Rotan, TX; Everett, WA; Portland, and Molalla, OR. He was enthusiastic and direct in his preaching, evangelism and singing. His greatest passion in ministry was in having one-on-one Bible studies. During his sixty-five plus years of ministry, he baptized 960+ souls and recorded their names.

He recognized the value of Christian camps and served on the Board of Directors at Camp Yamhill for 45 years. He also served as director of other camps in Washington and Oregon.

Memorial Service on Saturday, May 2nd at 2 pm, Brookdale Skyline, 2305 Patriot Heights, Building 1, Chapel on the 3rd floor, Colorado Springs, CO 80904.
