Quiotilde “Tillie” Salazar Martinez, 73, of Abilene, went home to be with the Lord and reunited with her one true love, on May 24th, 2026. A Viewing will be held Sunday, May 31st from 3:00-5:00 PM. The funeral service will be on Monday, June 1st, at 11:00 AM both in the chapel of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene.
Tillie was born on September 08, 1952, to Augustine and Petra Salazar in Lubbock, Tx. She married the love of her life Eddie Cortez Martinez in Abilene on April 14, 1974. Tillie worked as a dry cleaner for over 20 years, and later worked as a daycare teacher for over 15 years before she retired.
Surviving Tillie are her sons; Eddie, Israel and Andy Martinez and daughter Micaela Martinez, adopted children; Eliana, Aubrey, Adrian and Jacob Martinez as well as seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by five sisters; Celia Sotelo (Sergio), Olivia Salazar (Raul), Janie Salazar, Matilde Salazar, and Francisca Moorman (Marvin), two brothers; Miguel and Juan Sanchez-Salazar, as well as many other extended family members and friends.
Preceding Her in death was her husband Eddie, her parents, four brothers; Augustine Jr, Manuel, Jose-Luis, and Pedro Salazar and two sisters, Maria Hernandez and Guadalupe Salazar.
Tillie was a committed Christian and a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, aunt, sister, and friend whose kindness, strength, and unwavering love touched everyone blessed enough to know her. She was the oldest out of 14 children. She will always be remembered for her warm heart, gentle spirit, beautiful smile, and the way she made others feel loved and welcomed. Whether through her faith, her wisdom, her cooking, her laughter, or simply her presence, she created a lasting impact on the lives of so many. Tillie found joy in spending time with family, gardening, church, music, and caring for others. Her greatest pride and joy was her family, and she devoted her life to loving and supporting them. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing her love will remain with us always. Her memory will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched and the family she cherished so deeply. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
