Louis Dale Ivie, born March 8, 1952, passed away on November 7, 2025, leaving behind a legacy as unforgettable as the music he loved. Funeral service will be on Friday, November 14, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street with a burial at 1:00 p.m. at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery. A visitation will be on Thursday, November 13th from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A remarkably gifted and well-known guitarist, Louis poured his heart into every note he played. Whether performing onstage or sharing a quiet tune with a friend, his music carried emotion, generosity, and soul—touching countless lives along the way.
In addition to his musical talents, Louis was a devoted martial artist in Kajukenbo, proudly holding the rank of Professor, 8th Degree Black Belt, and was honored as a member of the Martial Arts Hall of Fame. His discipline, strength, and commitment inspired students, peers, and all who trained alongside him. He was also a proud veteran of the Vietnam War, serving his country with honor and unwavering dedication.
Louis was the kind of man who would help anyone—whether they asked for it or not—long before he ever thought of himself. His kindness, humor, and willingness to serve others made him a comforting and dependable presence in so many lives. His selfless spirit will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale Ivie and Eva Jean Perkins, and by his sisters Linda Jean Johnson and Judy Kay Cook.
Louis is survived by his sisters Cindy Pierce, Pam Browning (David), Lisa Meske (Neil), Christi Brabec (Jody), and DeeAnn Ivie (Mike); and by his brother Sam Ivie.
He is also survived by Bryant and Dawn Garrett, with whom he shared a bond stronger than almost any family tie. Close behind was his lifelong friendship with his best friend and cousin, Larry Roland Nichols. All three stood faithfully by his side, ensuring he was never alone until the very end.
Louis is remembered lovingly by numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
A beautiful blend of music, discipline, and compassion, Louis’s life was one of purpose, passion, and heart. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, heard him play, or were lifted by his generous spirit.
