Jose Luiz Lopez

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jose Luiz Lopez, who left us on May 16, 2025, at the age of 71. Jose was born on June 25, 1953, in Hale County, Texas. He was a proud resident of Abilene, Texas, and a beloved member of his community. A time of visitation with the family will be on Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m., with a rosary starting at 4:00 p.m. and the funeral service will follow, at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.

Jose worked as a maintenance worker at Fort Clark Springs in Brackettville, Texas, where he demonstrated his exceptional craftsmanship. His skills as a handyman at home allowed him to work on many different projects, including building barbecue pits, crosses, and tin men. Jose put his heart into every project he undertook.

A die-hard Washington Redskins (now Commanders) fan, Jose found joy in sports, but nothing compared to the joy he felt when surrounded by family. He loved attending family events, from weddings and quinceaneras to reunions and birthdays. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Jose was preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Manuela Lopez; brothers Rudy Lopez, Manuel Lopez and Juan Lopez; and sisters Beatrice Lopez and Rosa Fuentes. He is survived by his loving spouse, Maria Lopez; sister Maria Magdalene Gill; daughter Melissa Lopez; son Joey Lopez; grandchildren Serena Lopez, Madison Ortiz, Kaden Lopez, Gracie Lopez and Kynzlee Lopez; plus many nieces and nephews.

Rest in peace, Jose. You will be deeply missed, but your spirit will live on in our hearts.
