John Seymour Waggoner, 88, of Cisco, Texas, passed away at home on October 26, 2025.
He was born in Longview, Texas, on January 21, 1937, to Seymour and Betty Waggoner. John attended Abilene Christian University and played in the ACU marching band. After graduation, he went to work for Phillips 66 and then served in the Army Reserves. He met his wife, Diann, at church, and they were married in 1964.
John and Diann moved to Dumas, where they raised their two children, Damon and Shannon. They were members of the First Street Church of Christ, where John served as a deacon. In 1980, their family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. John worked for E-Z Serve and was an elder at Broken Arrow Church of Christ. In 1994, John and Diann moved to Cisco. John worked for Cowboy Ford and later the Hilton Hotel and Museum.
John was a member of the Cisco Church of Christ, where he loved to lead singing and served as an elder. He was also a member of the Cisco Rotary Club. John’s favorite memories were traveling with his family and visiting the mountains.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Seymour and Betty Waggoner, and his sister Jessica Heft. He is survived by his wife Diann; his son Damon Waggoner of Angelfire, NM; daughter Shannon Stevens and husband Ben of Forney; brother, Bill Waggoner and wife Dee; his brother-in-law Mark Hanner and wife, Jana; his brother-in-law Mike Hanner and wife Sandy; as well as his grandchildren Summer, Sawyer, and Sydney Stevens, and Donald, Garrett, Isaac, Jacob, Noah, and Rion Waggoner.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, November 1st at 11:00 at the Cisco Church of Christ.
