John George

John Edward George, 73 of Abilene, went to his heavenly home to be with the Lord on July 6, 2017 after a short battle with cancer.  His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God through his personal relationship with Jesus Christ supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street with Dr. Max Burkhead officiating.  A visitation with the family will be on Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate John’s life.

John was born to the late John T. and Catherine George, in Highland, IL. on July 15, 1943. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1962 and Cisco Junior College in 1991. He had a strong work ethic.  He worked for Fiberglass Systems for many years and with various drilling companies.  He also worked for Walmart for 21 years. He was a member of John Sayles Lodge 1408, Waco Scottish Rite, Abilene York Rite, Suez Temple Shriners, and Big County Emmaus.

John was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend, Gloria Price on March 5, 1994 in Abilene, Texas.  He helped raise his five step-children with patience, discipline, and humility. John was full of tenderness and compassion. He loved unconditionally and accepted things that God presented to him with faith and courage. John is survived by his wife, Gloria of Abilene; his stepsons Jason Price of Yuma, AZ.; James Price and his wife, Misha of Colts Neck, New Jersey; Nick Price and his wife, Julie of Dallas; J.D. Price of Round Rock; his stepdaughter Lisa Alberts and her husband, Cody of Abilene; his step-grandchildren, Kendra Price, Lindsey Price, Madison Price, James Price, Jr., Alexander Price, Andrew Price, Lillian Alberts, and Payden Alberts; his sister, Joanne Harrison; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and his loving Chihuahua, Lucy.
