Jackie Swaim, age 97, of Abilene, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born Jackie Canon on January 29, 1928, in Chalk, Texas, she was the daughter of Jim and Hattie Canon. In August of 1946, Jackie married the love of her life, Jimmy Swaim. Together they raised three spirited sons, and Jackie devoted herself to creating a warm and nurturing home. As grandparents, Jackie and Jimmy often said that grandchildren were the icing on the cake—and she cherished them all deeply.
Jackie was the heart of her family. She is survived by her sister, Kay Strickland; her sons, Jimmy Swaim, David Swaim (Kathy), and Terry Swaim; her grandchildren, Kim Stinnett, Jamie Golden, Shirley Mabes, Betty Brown, Stephanie Swaim, and Allison Walker; her seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jimmy Swaim; her son, Michael Swaim; daughter-in-law, Jeanette Swaim; grandson, Adam Swaim; five sisters; one brother; and her parents, Jim and Hattie Canon.
A celebration of Jackie’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Piersall Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Buffalo Gap Cemetery in Buffalo Gap, Texas. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Piersall Funeral Home in Abilene.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Hendrick Hospice in Jackie’s memory.
Jackie’s love, grace, and strength will remain an everlasting legacy. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
