Iva Hughes

Iva Lou Langdon Hughes died in Abilene, Texas on June 5, 2025. She is survived by her husband Edsel Hughes and three children: son Robin Hughes and wife Ginny of Boaz, Alabama, son Mark Hughes of Abilene, and daughter Lori Ladyman and husband Tim of Abilene.

Iva is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Iva finished high school in Dyess, Arkansas (where Johnny Cash was a schoolmate). She graduated from Harding University in 1956 with a degree in Home Economics and worked as a dietician for several years in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She and Edsel married in Chattanooga in 1957 while they both were employed in the city.

Iva was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend, blessing all who knew her.

The funeral service will be a family graveside. The family requests that donations should be given to Hendrick Hospice. No flowers requested.
