Donny Scott

Donny H. “Don” Scott, 82, passed away Christmas Day with family by his side.

Don was born in Lamesa, Texas, to Homer “H.M” Scott and Julia Jane Stotts Scott on July 27, 1943. On November 30, 1962, Don married the love of his life, Sherlyn Estep Scott, with whom they had two daughters.

Don was a hard working, dedicated family man who retired from American Telephone and Telegraph after 34 years of service. He worked for AT&T in Sweetwater and San Angelo.

He is remembered for his kindness, laughter, love for his family and ability to talk to anyone he met anywhere. Don loved collecting coins, antique dishes and other collectibles.

Don is preceded in death by his father Homer “H.M.” Scott; his mother Julia Jane Stotts Scott; and his sister, Eleanor “Kay” Griffin.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sherlyn Estep Scott; his daughter, Becky Smith (Terry); his daughter, Tanya Scott (Marsha); his grandchildren, Craig Smith; Cameron Smith (Sally); his great-grandchildren, Michael, Harley, Max and Amelia; his sister, Joy Zas as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family members.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hendrick Hospice Care of Abilene and to Chisholm Court for the care and love they provided for Don and the family.
