Donna Bea Kerr was called to her heavenly home on April 28th, 2026, by our Father God, to be with Jesus, the angels, and where loved ones were waiting for her. Donna was born on October 18, 1951 to parents JT and Martha Kerr in Ft Worth, Texas. Her sister, Rhonda, followed four years later.
When Donna was eight years old, the family relocated to Amarillo, TX, for her Dad’s employment and for her health. She grew up in Amarillo and graduated from Capnoch High School in May of 1970.
Donna then went to Harding College in Searey, Arkansa, where she met and married her husband Richard Edwards. Shortly thereafter they moved to Memphes, TN, where he was employed by the SLSF railroad as an engineer. On June 17, 1974 they had their first child, a son Zachary Douglass. They moved to Amarillo, TX when Zac was two years old and had their second child, a daughter Misty Brooks on July 31, 1976. Rich continued to work for the railroad and Donna enjoyed being a stay at home Mom with her two precious children. She loved attending school and church functions in addition to working as a part time dog breeder.
She was a faithful member of Central Church of Christ.
In 1985 Donna, Zac, and Misty moved from Amarillo to Abilene, TX, where her parents and sister resided. She worked fort he Taylor County Restitution Center, then began a career with the City of Abilene County Clerk’s Office, a job she loved and was very proficient at. Customers and coworkers both praised her friendliness and problem solving skills. Due to health reasons Donna had to retire early in 2017. She was hard working and kept a positive attitude under any circumstance.
Donna is survived by her daughter Misty Edwards of Abilene, one sister Rhonda Brooks also of Abilene, neices Christal Ferris and husband Adam of Yuma Arizona, Roxie and Charlotte Ferris of Yuma, Nephews Hendrin Ferris of San Diego CA, and Gerron and Gordan Brook both of Abilene. Also grandchildren, Dakota Silbreath of Clyde,, Arizona Butler and husband Marc of Abilene and great grandchildren Christian, Acelynn, Jaelynn, Olivia and Kai. Donna was preceded in death by son Zachary, Richard, and parents JT and Martha Kerr.
Donna left behind long time best friend Carolyn Corbett and a host of other friends. She was a member of Transformation Church where she loved and was loved by all.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, at 11 am at Transformation Church 3150 Vogel St, Abilene, TX. Pastor Michael Chandler will be officiating.
