Bill Hilliard

William Hilliard, 90, of Abilene, passed peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2026. A visitation with the family will be on Thursday, April 2, 2026 from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street. A family graveside service will be on Friday, April 3, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pendergress Cemetery near Sidney, Texas.

Bill was born July 6,1935 in Comanche, Texas to Riley and Pansy Hilliard. He grew up in Comanche county on the family farm, attended school in Comanche and worked at the Comanche County Livestock Auction while in high school. He loved the early farm life, raising peanuts, cotton, and cattle. He would later attend and graduate from Draughn Business College in Abilene. On June 21, 1957, Bill married Glenda Hall. He began his working life for Caterpillar, spending 15 years in Pecos and the remainder of his 43 years with Caterpillar in Abilene. His work had him traveling most of West Texas and he truly enjoyed his career with Caterpillar. After retiring, he spent many days on the tractor plowing and bailing hay with his brother-in-law Gary Hall. His final two years were spent at Wisteria Assisted living where he experienced the trials of his age. A special thanks is due to those care givers, aides and nurses. He was a member of Southern Hills church of Christ.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife Glenda, parents and siblings, brother Waylon and sister Bobby Nell Lusk. Survived by children David Hilliard (wife Valerie) and Debra Brown (husband Scott), 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
