Floy Ada Kenner, 98, of Abilene, passed away peacefully, June 29, 2016, at the home of her son in Azle, Texas. A celebration of Floy’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 8, 2016, at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street, Abilene, Texas.
Floy was born in Stephens County, Texas, July 3, 1917, to James Harris Bratton and Nannie Smith Bratton. She moved to Abilene as a preschooler and lived there most of her life, except for a short time she spent in Mineral Wells, Texas. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1936, and soon after married the love of her life, Claude William Kenner, Jr. on September 4, 1936. They spent 36 amazing years together until his death in 1972.
Floy worked for several years at Minters Department Store in Abilene and as a Medical Assistant to her sister in law, Dr. Joanne Kenner, in Mineral Wells. Floy was a devoted mother to Claudia and Kenny. She was very active in her children’s activities; serving as the room mother in their classes and making sure they were at their many activities. She served many years as Claudia’s Girl Scout Troop Leader and counselor at Camp Boothe Oaks. She was known as Grandmother to many and doted on her grandchildren as well as all of their friends. Family was important to her and she made sure that her children and grandchildren had plenty of grandparent, aunt, uncle and cousin time together. She was a crafty person and very talented with sewing, knitting, crocheting, and painting. She had a kind spirit and was always willing to lend a hand to someone in need.
The family would like to say a special thanks to Brandy Clark of Community Hospice of Texas who provided comfort to Floy and her family during the last few months of her life.
Floy is survived by her two children, Claudia Ingle and husband Ronnie of Abilene and Claude William Kenner III (Kenny) and wife Pam of Azle. Her grandchildren; E. Shawn Kennedy and husband Don, Layne Ingle, Claude William Kenner IV (Billy) Kenner, Bobby Kenner, KC Kenner and wife, Kristina and Gavin Becker. Great grandchildren; Kelcee Kennedy Davis, Blayz Ingle, Heven Kenner, Madylenn Kenner, Robert Kenner and Kylan Kenner, two great-great grandchildren; Gage and Ryker Davis, as well as a host of other extended family members and friends.
