A visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday evening from 5-7pm at the funeral home.
On April 26, 1918 Doris Robinson was born at home in Wagram, Ohio to Ira Carl Robinson and Hazel Hogue Robinson. She was raised in Ohio and graduated from high school there. She met the love of her life Herbert Earl Johnson and they were married on June 1st, 1941 in Fairfield, IL. In 1948 Doris and Herb moved to Abilene along with her entire family to begin Robinson-Puckett Drilling.
After her husband's death in 1970, Doris continued to be the best mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family. Teaching by example to love and care with a kind and generous heart. She was a longtime secretary to Dr. Ira Williams, the pastor at St. Paul United Methodist Church and was an active member there until the last few years. Even though her health wouldn't allow her to attend anymore, she would continue to watch Sunday morning services on TV.
Doris had a passion for many things, one being genealogy and researching her family history. She used that passion to write a book about her family and then presented a bound copy to each of her family members. That book will continue to be a treasured possession for generations. Her other passion was cooking. Doris was an amazing cook and passed this talent onto her family.
