Marvin Henry James, Jr., 59 of Abilene, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 1, 2014. A visitation is scheduled for Monday, May 5, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Piersall Funeral Directors. Services will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the Piersall Funeral Directors chapel at 733 Butternut Street, with interment to follow at the Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Marvin was born on August 21, 1954 in Abilene to Marvin James, Sr. and Maybelle Perry James. A lifelong resident of Abilene, it was here that Marvin married his wife, Sherry, on September 14, 1971. Marvin worked a number of years as a production maintenance mechanic for Abtex Beverage Corporation, and spent the last 14 years working as a Senior Engineer III for Intelligrated. When it came to building and fixing things, Marvin was truly gifted.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Sherry James, daughters Sheree Kirkham and husband MiKe, Tina Mendez and husband Earl, and sons John James and wife Tammie and Jesse James and wife Laken, all of Abilene. He is also survived by sisters Shirley Brown of Oklahoma City, Sandra Flowers of Oklahoma City, Linda Morris and husband Bill of Bridge Creek, Oklahoma and a brother, Johnny or Kerns, Texas; as well as 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews as well as two special friends Randy Scheffer and Mike Pierson. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Billy Wayne James; and a son, Marvin James III.
