James W. Bucherie Sr, 81 of Abilene, went home to be with his savior on
Sunday, June 2, 2013. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on
Thursday June 6, 2013 at Elmwood Memorial Park with Roy Shake officiating.
Service are under the direction of Piersall Benton Funeral Directors, 733
Butternut St. No visitation is planned.
Jim was born on April 12, 1932 in Saugus, Massachusetts to Rosario J.
Bucherie and Etta Jones Bucherie. He graduated high school in Saugus and
went on to attend ACC in Abilene. After a short time at ACC Jim enlisted in
the Army where he was a member of the special forces. Once he was
discharged he moved to Illinois where he worked in the post office. He
returned to ACC a few years later and met his wife Sally Hill. They were married
on September 15, 1962 in Abilene.
For over 30 years Jim worked for the United States Postal Service and
retired from service at the Southern Hills location in Abilene. He and his
wife were active members of 11th and Willis St. Church of Christ. He was
also a member of The Sons of the Republic of Texas and Taylor County
Historical Commission.
Surviving Jim are his wife Sally, a son James W. Bucherie Jr and wife Mary Eileen, a
sister, Roz Mitchell, five grandchildren, Sarai Kearl and husband Chase,
Bethany Warman and husband Brian, Danny J. Bucherie, Eric Squires and Scott
Squires and wife Melissa and children, as well as many other extended family members
and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
